Anyone out there ever install a double DIN stereo in their 95 Cutlass convertible? I’m trying to do an installation with minimal modifications and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

It's probably not terribly difficult, provided you have the right adapter kit(s). I have a single DIN JVC head unit in my '95 and used adapters for the wiring harness, antenna, and dash fitment. It was almost as easy as plug-and-play. It's definitely better using a wiring harness adapter and doing all your splicing and soldering out on the work bench, instead of up inside the dash of the car. Don't do a hack job on your car's wiring harness.

I've never actually installed a double DIN radio, so I don't know whether it comes with a universal bracket kit or if you need to get that separately. Just make sure the after market radio is no deeper front-to-back than the OEM unit. It can actually be kind of fun. When I was married, many moons ago, I taught my then-stepdaughter how to solder when we put a new radio in her mom's Jeep. She had quite the sense of accomplishment when we got it all put into place.

You might want to check out a mail order company called Crutchfield. They include all the adapters and accessories needed for your particular application with the purchase of the radio. They also have knowledgeable technicians available to help talk you through any snags you might encounter. And with all that, their prices are actually pretty competitive. At least, I guess they still do all that. It's been several years since I last ordered anything from them.
