crazyd
If anyone has a part number or cross-reference for the 1st-gen door strikers, and what else they're shared with, please post it here. Both of mine need to be replaced and I've had no luck finding a replacement.
mfewtrail
My parts catalog scans list the striker as part # 20464563. edit: I added the part scans to a gallery here: Download the images and you'll be able to see the actual-sized images and zoom in on any part numbers to read them clearly. crazyd
That's awesome, thanks! None of the usual in-town suspects had it. I found it on eBay, it apparently crosses to 82-92 F-body but not much else. So a sagging door hinge is the cause. What's the solution? Redo the hinges, the bottom is more prone to failing than the top hinge. If you can pull up on the rear of the door & see & hear a clunk then it's time to replace the pins. crazyd
No slack in the door hinges at all, I can lift the car with it.
55trucker
I see, well does the beltline at the rear of the door still line up properly with the beltline of the quarter panel?
crazyd
Perfectly. I'm actually thinking the hinges must have already been redone at some point in its storied past.
55trucker
Odd, the strikers don't generally wear out unless the door latch is out of alignment with the striker.
