twin turbo? pros and cons

pros: cool to say it's twin

use two T25's and not have to put after market wastegates on them.

double the turbo sound.

cons: more lag

space

what else?

also whats better two independent or one big and one small?

I was looking you could either put one in front and one in back(tight in back)

or put both where the battery is(possible)

I think it would be cool.

you could pick up t25's cheap because everyone is upgrading.

Con: engine could blow

Con: waste of money

Pro: prove me wrong

Well your not the first. Someone has..and only hod rod knows who it is. It seems to be turbo per bank type twin turbo system. I was thinking of one but its too complex and I hear someone...(maybe Jeff...who was quoating someone else)...state that it creates too much backpresure or something. I don't even think the stock (even if max ported) heads could flow alot to support a twin setup well. Now someone with a DOHC will benefit. Twice the valves....twice the air flow. But still....backpresure.[/img]

PROS:

2 small turbos tend to spool faster, excellent streetability due to reduced lag, decent volume

Cons:

VERY complex, hard to set up, high rpm volume lacks big time so no real top end(hence the reason the big guns use a large single), more heat in the engine bay.

As far as prob with the tranny or engine, that is all still boost dependant and would not make a difference single or twin turbo. You would gain more volume for the same pressure, and it would spool almost as fast as the current stock setup, but to be honest, you wont see much lag difference using a larger single unit, and it would be much easier to install.

I'm in the process (slow) of building a TT 3.4

Its individual turbo for each back. Infact, each port of the exhaust is run to a turbo. The battery will be moved. and I'm thinking I may have to remold the coolant tank.

the bugatti envyron has 18 cylinders and 6 turbos. whats 2?

What? bugatti veyron 16/4 is a 4 turbo 16 cylinder engine. 1001hp

anyway, a TT 3.4 would kick ass, I agree the room would be quite the problem. Go with a single turbo, if everyone looked at my sig (not hard to miss) it'd be hard to fit the turbos in there.

if room is a problem, do like that camaro kit that locates the turbocharger underneath the car(pretty neat, I have a video of a maro' equipped with one tooling around a parking lot).

It should be pretty obvious that it is better to go with a single turbo. What does every guy who has a really fast supra do??? Get the twin turbo system outta there and throw some huge ass single turbo on! Yeah it would be cool to say u have twin turbo but hey, you are gonna be better of with a single. If u have any doubts that a single turbo can haul ass go to http://www.wotm.com one of those runs was at the local track, first 6 speed street driven supra in the 9's!!!!
