89-W-Body-Regal
UPDATE ON THE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER: I will never buy those heli- coil pack again. It made things worse. The shop had to remove the entire timing chain cover and repair the stripped thread off the car. It cost me a little over a grand to repair because they had to remove accessories ect plus one of the pulleys was bad.
GabsOlds
Whoa! That was expensive! Thanks for the update.
Imp558
Would have been further ahead to replace the cover yourself with a wrecking yard piece. I redid the top end of an L67 last year, bought a floor press and parts for the sc snout, had the heads professionally done, bought a torque angle gauge and did new gaskets and seals for under $1000.
89-W-Body-Regal
Could have but, it would have been time consuming. I just wanted to get her done and back on the road. It’s been sitting for 5 months at the time and I didn’t really have the right tools to work on it myself.
