ragejg
Gawd I love the prospect of a 3.1 turbo... but over the years I've pined for the possibility of a *light* supercharging... heh heh heh... Are there any *smaller than for the L67* superchargers that might mate decently to a strongly built 3.1? Yes, I know a 3.8 swap might be nicer if I'm thinking of a supercharger... but I'd like to know if there's any possibility of a 3.1 being able to accomodate one... Compufreek
I am pretty sure http://www.rsmracing.com make a kit for your enging to run 6-8 PSI or maybe http://www.domesticperformance.com/ they also have a kit. In both cases it is a Vortech SC non IC but they are talking some big gains.
TeeJay3800
I'm far from an expert on superchargers, but I believe from I have have heard that the Eaton M45 would work for a 3.1. Of course, this is not a complete kit, just the S/C itself. http://www.automotive.eaton.com/product/engine_controls/M45.html
Rob95CS
I believe I remember seeing one somewhere that would mate to the 3100 also. But it was for an N-body, I think. It was also nearly $5000.
slick
Ahh, eaton m45, i like, and the dimensions i love a lot better than the eaton m90 project i had in mind. M90's are soo much easier to find though.....
slick
BTW, where would you run the oil lines too. The oil return line would go to the oil pan, but how would it get in there. What about the oil line that takes the oil to the supercharger? Would you put a Y-splitter tube in one of the oil lines and run that to the 'charger, or is there an extra oil sending unit thing somewhere? I know Eaton S/C's are sealed and you don't need to run an oil line to them.
slick
Oh ok, then what's these little red and yellow things plugging up then? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2446727773&category=33741
99RegalGS
those are for the vacume lines.
mfewtrail
yes the M90's(as I think most/all eatons are) sealed units, the oil plug is on the pulley side and they hold 8oz of supercharger oil(that smells like shit btw...about the same type of smell as gear oil..I believe it's composed of animal fats or something to that nature..an almost sulphuric stinch..hell it might contain sulphur too..I dont' know)..anyways, at least go w/ a M62 on a 3.1..hell an M90 would be fine on a 3.1, you just probably would want to run the stock 3.8'' pulley(if you get one from a 3800)...either way, you would need to have to do some intake machining work and/or have a custom adapter or something to that sort made...I'm also throwing this idea around for for another vehicle...I might *look* into the cost of getting the parts machined to put one on a 3.1 later, I've got a spare 3.1 to play w/ anyway. EDIT: by the way, you're probably going to want to beef some things up as extra protection if you do in fact add a supercharger to the 3.1... 8)
slick
Ahh, ok. I've got the machining part figured out, infact i plan on doing this by summer time. Where would i run the vaccum lines then?

I'm not sure what the vacuum lines run to...I'll look at my GTP tomorrow and then tell you..I would imagine one would run to the map sensor and that one might be for the boost bypass valve but I don't really know
