steven1989pdx
Couple weeks ago I notice the blower motor started sounding strained, then one day it wasn't blowing any air, but when I changed from vent to heater to bi level I could hear it changing the diverter. Then the next day, got in, and it started blowing again, motor still sounds weird. Is this a relay, resister, or motor issue? I wouldn't mind replacing all three at once. Are they all right under the dash on passenger side, or in engine compartment like the g bodies?
Schurkey
If this is wired like the older cars, the relay gives you "high" speed, the resistors give you the slower speeds. Unless one of the speeds is dead, it's probably not the resistors. Unless high speed is dead, it's probably not the relay. If the blower "sounds weird", it's probably the blower motor bearings, which aren't serviceable except to replace the entire motor. Blower motor-and-fan assembly failed on my '92 Lumina, I had to replace it in Dear Old Dad's driveway, having driven a thousand miles with a wounded HVAC system. Even had to buy tools at Sears and the local CarQuest to get the job done. primergray
