Marcus18
when I upgrade my turbo I plan on movingthe coils and pass side dogbone mount so I can put some headers in. They will be built for flow. so they will probably be different lengths. I think anything(except fiero manifolds) is better than stock for flow. marcus
TGPilot
The TGP exhaust manifolds are hidious!! #3, #4, #5, #6 cylinder exhaust gases run into a "T" with zero influence in the direction the gasses move to an outlet. My ex-roomy looked at TWalts manifold and said...when you decide to get another TGP we will make stainless tube headers for it. I have no idea when that will be...but I know he can build them. He said it would not be hard at all to build them..but he is a master welder and fabricator so it is way above my head. How important is it that the tube lengths be the same? I would think that just giving the gasses a direction to flow (non-length matched) would be an improvement over the stock exhaust manifold by itself. Like I said this is over my head so educate me please! 8)
slick
Any flow is better than stock, as long as it's not too much flow. Headers WILL give enough horsepower for the buck, enough that you will feel. No matter what the numbers are, they are worth making. Just wait until after christmas when i have a few more dollars to get my tubes freaking bent.
topless94style
Headers are a great way to increase power on any car. I would love to have some for my DOHC. Only problem is, you can get good gains from them if you are runnign a stock motor. But what is the use of good blow when your engine cant suck? The more the motor can suck the more it has to blow. The better it can blow when sucking, the more power yet. So, the more you do to add performance to the engine, the more power you will see from headers/intake. Suck, squeez, bang, blow. TGPilot
Damn good analogy Topless!! Now the scene from Space Balls is stuck in my head when they say "oh no...she has gone from suck to blow!!"
RedZMonte
The only point I was trying to make is that they're going to be too expensive to be worth it. There's no doubt that there's definetely something to be gained with headers on either the 3.1 or 3.4 TDC, both stock designs are crap. But on both cars, there is really no where good to even run a good designed header, so the point is it's going to be really expensive, and still not even be that good a header. So the money can probably be spent better elsewhere. I plan on the boost method, at least I'll see good gains for the money I spend. that is my point exactly. you will see gains from a well designed set of headers. but fact of the matter is its not worth the $$ on a w-body for most people to build a set of headers unless you have the ability to do it yourself. shane
93GTP
Yeah, if you got headers, you definetely want some mods on the intake side as well. Cold Air Intake, and some porting and polishing will help greatly.

You also need to find your tubing at a metal scrapyard. I only spent $3 on enough tubing to make 1 set of headers. It will make it much easier for me, and anyone i may make a set for. 93GTP
I don't think shane has any problems getting tube or getting it bent, lol What do ya say shane, how about you mass produce some 3.4 headers?
topless94style
I got friends with welders and i can get welders, but i have no time or tube bending capabilities. That i know of. I mightcould design a set or something and get them made but again $$$$$$$$$$$ that i dont have. EDIT: There is a local place here colled Headers by "Ed" he doesnt have anything for our cars. But, i saw he has a kit you can buy to make your own headers, you just have to give them the port size and stuff and they will make you or pick out the best flange they have to match your head. They are expensive, but the kit includes tons of tubes gaskets, bolts, and the flanges. The V6 kits range from $404-$498. http://www.headersbyed.com Thats already a big chunk of change. MANDREL bent is the only way to go. press bent headers are not worth your time.. $$$ if you do mandrel bent. Shane
