Blew the 3.1 racing a chicked out Honda Civic. Doing 160km! What is the top speed any 3.1L with auto has gotten want to really know if i could have been going 210km!! I'm assuming you're asking correct? Yes, the L67 Swap (for boat anchor) will fit. hazmatic Posted December 4, 2003 Report Share Posted December 4, 2003 i started working on a turbo 3.1 for my regal untill i lost my regal and my regal had a 2.8 but yes the 3800 s/c will fit the 2.8l n 3.l is practily the same engin just dif displacement and 3800 will fit s1 s2 both s/c or none a turbo 3.1 the 3.4dohc takes a lil more work (correct me if im wrong w-body gods) but wont any 60degree v-6 fit to thats not found in w-bodys? gp90se Posted December 4, 2003 Report Share Posted December 4, 2003 You blew a 3.1, thats impressive. you really need to beat the snot outta thoes motors as well as not take care of them in order to make em pop. I used 2 rev my 3.1 upto 7000 rpms and the worth thing I ever did was blow a spark plug clear outta the head. sure its blow and not just running bad? Racing an ES300 I blew 2 coilpacks, beat the fucker but I payed for it. put a 3.4 in, they rev high and make power, but u need to take care of them. -Jeff Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rudefyet Posted December 18, 2003 Report Share Posted December 18, 2003 blew a 3.1 huh i got 152k and the thing still runs perfect i've held it at 6500rpms for like over a minute and no sign of problems...just usual stuff...all i've done to the car is put a waterpump on...which the old went out due to the previous owner...had to fixed a rusted out collant line um and a radiator drain plug that broke...other then that i've done general stuff brakes etc... um it has some problems like the oil seal thats on the back the one that goes where the distibutor was leaks but not bad...tranny needs flushed and i need a new wheel bearing on one of the rear wheels...but previous ower changed the fuel pu,p and computer...which i'm still confused about why he'd need to do that...but yeah plus is i have no speed govrenor with that computer...i chickend out when i hit roughly 125...too much troub;e with cops...but hey theres always a few lemons in the bunch...i plan for an L67 swap someday...thats the most powerful stock engine you can stuff in your car...and i'm pretty sure all you need are the axels engine tranny computer and cruise control module for the 3800...i understand its an easy drop in but wiring it up is horrendus Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rudefyet Posted December 18, 2003 Report Share Posted December 18, 2003 Anyways the 3.1 auto can't go any fast than maybe 120mph with automatic (and with the limiter disabled .) i believe that...but i'm not stock...very close but not...i doubt id go any faster but never hurts to try...i'm pretty sure the gears are wide enough cause i was running about 4500 in OD...but it just wouldn't have the power at high rpms to keep going Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
rudefyet Posted December 18, 2003 Report Share Posted December 18, 2003 yeah 5 speed would insane...but i'm just saying the gear ratios are so wide on my gp...the thing could go at least 150 but i don't think it has the power for that wide of gears...but who knowsit doesn't hit 2nd till 60mph 3rd until 85 or 90....it hit 4th at 120 on my speedo...and voila i still have OD...i let off the gas at 125 it kicks into another gear Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gp90se Posted December 18, 2003 Report Share Posted December 18, 2003 Rudefyet, I hate to burst ya bubble but theres absolutly no way a stock 3.1 is going to hit 125 mph, even if ya speedo says ya doin 110, doesnt mean its accurate over 85mph. you have to keep in mind even with exhaust and intake, with a 3.1 your making about 150hp. a 5 speed would hep ya accelleration/top end, but with an automatic, its going to be real hard without a turbo and/or juice. -Jeff Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rudefyet Posted December 19, 2003 Report Share Posted December 19, 2003 hey i wasn't trying to make anything up thats just what my speedo said...who knows if its right i honsetly probably still have the governer...i have to drive 70 in a 55 just to keep from getting tailed...passed cops too and they just sit there so i think my 70 is more like 55 or 60...and as it gets higher the speedo is prolly farther off right? *sniff* my dreams are ruined my gp will never be fast...haha...j/k lemme finish college and i'll get rid of the 3.1 but i mean not to push or anything but has anyone ran a 3.1 with no govenor and topped it out...cause you know i'd like to think there is hope for going faster then 115 or so...ok i'll shutup now Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
