bluecalais79
Quick question for all out there, the 3.5 liter motor that was put in the 1999 and up Olds Intrigue, did GM do away with the timing belts in these motors in favor of timing chains? I'm looking into one with 40,000 miles and the dealership's mechanic is saying they don't have timing belts and I think that is incorrect. My 3.4 1994 Cutlass had the problematic timing belt, and if the newer 3.5's have them, it's game off for that sale. As much as I'd like 65 more horses, that belt is just too expensive to replace and man they can do some damage if they bust. Not worth the repair down the road. Galaxie500XL
You’re looking at an LX5 engine...it uses chains. bluecalais79
bluecalais79
Thanks for that, so then they wised up and stopped using timing belts, man that is a relief. Now if I can get past how dang ugly the car is as opposed to the 1992-1997 Cutlass Supreme I may go for it. Really gotta think that one over.
