stuhrling
My neighbor has a 96 Olds Cutlass Supreme that has the usual leaking intake manifold gaskets problem. He was looking up replacement gaskets for this engine but found that there is a 1st design and a 2nd design for this. He cannot discern which is the proper version. Is there a way to tell this before pulling everything apart? Appreciate your insight!
55trucker
The 1st L82 engine design are all ball & pivot rocker arms, the later 2nd design engines are all roller rocker arms & pushrod guide equipped. Pull off the forward valve cover & inspect the rocker arms to see which you have. Imp558
mfewtrail
You should be able to see into the oil cap opening well enough to tell which rocker style you have. May or may not need a small inspection mirror to tell for sure...I don't remember it's been so long since I've looked at a 3100.
