Flashing SES light

I got into my car after work this evening and I started to drive home, all of a sudden the SES light started flashing at me. I almsot flipped. I have never had an SES light flash at me. Then it stayed on. A little while later I was going upa hill adn accelerated and it flashed again. Now let me back up a few days. The other day I was driving home and the car started shuddering almost like it was going to stall out on me, just before it shifted. I gave it more gas and it stopped. My bf suggested it to be the fuel filter or spark plugs and wires, or both. Tonight I had an almost empty tank of gas. I filled the tank and the light is still on, but its not flashing at me. I plan on changing the fuel filter. Tha spark plugs and wires is going to have to wait until next week, after I get my car back from the body shop. If anyone has any other ideas or questions PLEASE let me know. Thanks

Like they said. Get it scanned first to get the trouble code for free.

I hope you are not getting the 42 or 43 which pertains to the Electronic Spark Timing problem. I have the 42 error code on my car.

My research pointed to the ECM. However, the good news is that the capacitor inside the ECM is leaking and other components loose. The loose components requires re-solding and the leaking capacitor needs to be replaced which are not hard either.

I'll take out my ECM today though on my car.

I had the SES light diagnosed. It came up as P0302. Cylinder 2 misfire. The guy told me to change the spark plugs and wires, check the coil. Anything else I shold check/change while I'm at it? Also, how hard is it to get at the spark plugs at the back of the engine?

Thanks
