GonaOne
I’m from Finland. I’m wasting my time with this problem. 3th day to seek parts - none found. My car: OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME SL 4 door, 1990. 1G3WS51T4LD386817 (from Canada?) I want to find new part â€Complete FRONT Strut Assembly â€, pair. Ebay or Amazon can’t help- There are lot of kits, but not the correct one? I want to order correct part to my car, but can’t find info anywhere. How about Lumina or other w-body cars? If there are similar parts? = No need to fit 100%, but Must be loaded one. *** My own strut are wasted by time, and can’t give any spare part. Here are no reseller, info or possible to ask expert to order... so i'm here to ask help. I dont want to send it in junkyard, just for one missing part thanks for help
Nas Escobar
The place of origin doesn't matter, they were the same cars mechanically. As far as the front struts go, they are not conventional struts. They are loaded cartridges. Watch this video. and here's a diagram. It says 97 Monte Carlo, but the same strut was used for 88-97 Cutlass Supremes. The only thing you have to buy to replace your worn strut is this: If your SPRING is bad then that becomes another issue.
Imp558
Any online parts warehouse should have them, and like he said, unless your springs are bad all you need is the strut cartridge. there was a special tool for doing them at one time that you may be able to find used but if you can lift up the boot on the front one a pipe wrench will grab it just as well. I would recommend rockauto.com for struts and Gabriel Ultra for longevity.
White93z34
There is a very good reason you haven't been able to locate it. I think Nas did a pretty good job of explaining it. But long story short to get a "loaded" assembly would require a entire knuckle, kind of a pain on these cars. Now if you need cartridges I'm sure I or someone else here could get them and reship them if you have trouble getting shipping to Finland. GonaOne
Thanks, for very helpful comments. I'm seeking the whole part, because shipping.Cots same (much!), what I order. and repairman ask me to do so. Since, the spring holderare broken by corrosion, must got whole one. But in internet - every loaded kit looks like the same + system answer "do not fit..your car" it was hopeless to do my order. I had to order many items in my car(s) before, but this S. are hard one! Imp558
In a few months I'll have a good used front set of everything up for grabs. We could potentially put new cartridges in them and ship tbem over. They won't be available until I rip the "new" GS apart. I should have a set of a-arms with bushings that are only a couple years old too.

No need to be 100% original one, just decent one. some expert in here, said that he can make one, if get parts i mean: Monroe 171771 OR similar one? https://www.carid.com/monroe/quick-strut-front-complete-strut-assembly-mpn-171771.html Just wondering, if I can get whole front kit + lots of spare parts with it. Least someone here will need rest of those unfitting parts. *** Now i'm making order and hoping the best I got better service in here - than local Finnish seller... White93z34
If you want a entire assembly used is probably about as good as you'll be able to get due to the design of the suspension. The strut assembly is also the entire knuckle/caliper mount. Simply put there is no aftermarket loaded quick strut style strut available for your car, these kind of stand alone in being kind of a weird design of suspension. You'd be ahead to buy a new: Bearing plates Mounts Strut Cartridges Optional The right tool to remove the strut carts. Though If you'll have them that torn down you could probably get away without it. Nas Escobar
