Pulsating lights

In my '95 Cutlass LQ1 all lights have been pulsating for as long as I can remember. As RPMs increase, the pulsating increases to the point it's not noticeable. I replaced the alternator in January of 2012, but the pulsating has always been there and is not a new issue. I'm not thinking I need to necessarily do anything at this point, but I do wonder what it is. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have never had this issue on my 94 CS. I'm thinking the voltage regulator. Check your grounds for corrosion. That is the only thing I can think of.

I would check and upgrade the grounds on the car to a bigger gauge wire. I used to have this issue on my Grand Am (but I was running a 1000 watt amp) and I did the big 3. Helped it tons. I may end up doing it to the Infiniti as well. It pulsates a lot.

START by verifying the condition of the battery.  You will need to have the battery load tested, after assuring that it has 12.6--12.7 volts with the engine shut off for an hour. (Fully charged)  Then verify that the connections at the battery--the battery terminals at the battery case, and the connectors that press against the battery terminals--are bright, shiny silver instead of fuzzy green or dark, blackish.

 

How fast is the pulsing at idle?  Many times per second?  Once per second?  Once every ten seconds?

 

Do you hear any clicking at the fuse box? (Circuit breaker popping and re-setting?)

 

Is there an electrical accessory that doesn't work properly?

If youre van Is an early uplander there was a recall on those can't remember whether we replaced the regulator or complete alternator on those units it was a long time ago but I remember the problem and I know I have one or 2 alternators at home that I still have to destroy for warranty hehe
