Grandprix1
Is there any benefit from running a cooler thermostat? Coldest id go is 180 I've heard of issues coming up if the engine doesn't get warm. Grandprix1
Imp558
I run 180 in summer. Of course my PCM is programmed for it.
Psych0matt
I originally had my am programmed to 180, but decided against it since I mostly just cruising and not really racing or anything like that performance related.
Grandprix1
Ok. I don't race mine either. The fans are programmed to come on earlier though. 185 and 195. And it really doesn't top 200 unless it's the summer time. I've heard it being popular to do but wasn't sure if there was any benefits besides a cooler engine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
l67ss
Only time you'd really see any benefit is in a higher than stock boost vehicle.....or drive like an idiot like me lol. Going colder than 180 would be pointless regardless. My car ran 183° constant with the 180 and 164° constant with no t stat
Grandprix1
Ok. I wasn't sure. I always hear when people do their cooling system that they are going to put in a cooler thermostat. What's in them from the factory? 190 or 195? Imp558
195 is stock. You could run a 180 and run a bit cooler but the fan temps really should be adjusted in the PCM.
Schurkey
You "can" shove a 180 degree thermostat in, but there's NO POINT. There is zero advantage to it in a street-driven vehicle. Psych0matt and Grandprix1
