You need the bracket, but it bolts onto the knuckle correctly unlike the F-body version where you need to use a sleeve over the bolt (or re-tap the bracket), which I wasn't a huge fan of.

Yup, and then get GM rotors. GM Part number is 18021015 . You will need different caliper brackets,GM P/N 18029829.  That is a cheaper, and just as effective brake upgrade.   Edit: that is all 12 i

With the F-body upgrade it would be easy to jump to aftermarket calipers
