Vetteman61
I need to test the purge valve on my '97 Lumina with a 3100. I've got a P1675 dtc code, which is a fault in the EVAP purge valve solenoid. I've found that the part on this vehicle is mounted on top, behind the engine near the coil packs. Can someone explain how to test this part? I don't work on many things with ECMs and I'm afraid of frying the computer if I don't test the wires correctly. Thanks,
Galaxie500XL
Almost every time one of those is bad, the coil is open...take an ohmmeter, and take a reading. I'm betting you'll get an "infinity reading". The ECM relies on seeing a path to ground from the sensor, and with an open coil, no ground, and it sets a code. Last one I replaced came from a junkyard, for maybe $5.00, seven years ago.
Vetteman61
Do you know which pins on the part to test? I haven't taken it off yet but I believe there are more than two or three.
