Check Gauges trying to light on

Hi!

I´ve been having this strange check gauges light trying to lit on but it doesn´t, just keeps blinking but very fade and not always. What may be the problem?

Thanks!

Typical on older Wbodys. More than likely just a bad solder joint in the cluster. With that being said, check oil pressure, or engine temp. The check gauge light could come on if the oil pressure drops too low, or the engine overheats.

Yeah. All 3 of my tgp clusters had that problem and needed resoldered. If it's like the gp ones, your tach is also probably not accurate. Rob Saar on this forum fixed all of mine. He does good work. You can contact him to see if he'll do your cutlass one.

oddly enough, I haven't seen any analog cutlass clusters fail like that, I'd try to verify that a sensor/switch isn't causing it first. the oil pressure switches/sensors on a 60V6 are pretty notorious for failing in most ways imaginable, I would try unplugging it the next time it happens, see if the light comes on properly.

I have never heard anyone here complain about a CS cluster with that issue.

it's strange, considering they're the exact same circuit. why the 89-90 GP analog clusters have the absolute most issues compared to 91-93 GP and other w-body analog clusters, I'm not certain, but I get the feeling that the laser-cutting operating changed for the 91 model year.
