Drummer Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 My 06 grand prix info center keeps telling me to check my gas cap plus i have a service engine light which disables the remote start and winter is just around the corner. Ive already changed out my gas cap but still have this issue. One thing ive noticed is that my evap canister no longer clicks when i shut my car off or while its running. Im Going to have to invest in a scanner since advance auto no longer scans an engine for codes. is there any way to test the evap solenoid? Is there anything else that i should look for? Thanks. Psych0matt Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Definitely evap canister, probably the solenoid. Mine has the exact same issue, and it's very common on these cars. I haven't had the time to try to fix it yet, but that's the only color that my car has ever told me since I've owned it. Quote
rich_e777 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Might be a hose going dry connecting the solenoids, do you know the specific DTC? Many parts stores are going to stop doing free scans, there's no money in it. I dealt with several related EVAP codes and ended up replacing both the purge and vent solenoids before it went back to bad gas cap. One thing I noticed is in the FSM it mentions these codes are set when the gas tank doesn't have a certain amount of pressure in it. So in theory, to me, it may be possible that the fuel tank pressure sensor might cause these codes? Quote
