darklotus42 Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 okay I have a 95 olds CS coupe and I want to upgrade the obd1.5 to obd2. I have a 98 lumina for a parts car. the donor does not have abs. can I still use it for everything I need or will I need to find more stuff? Quote
Galaxie500XL Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 First thing off the top of my head is you're going to need a downstream O2 sensor behind the cat, or you're going to see an continual check engine light. Not sure what benefits you expect to see with the conversion--I'd be inclined to leave things as they are, unless you're looking for a specific benefit. What are your plans? Quote
Imp558 Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 OBD I scan tools are cheap now. You can get an older professional grade tool for less than it would cost to make it OBD II. Quote
pshojo Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 You could always have the O2 code programmed out. That's what I had to do on my 95. Quote
Padgett Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 So possible but not easy/cheap. Figure $120 (Moates ALDL cable and TunerPro RT software. and a Laptop or Tablet to do anything you want. I prefer a PC since can look at many parameters at once. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 So you can tune the 1.5 stuff now? I'm pretty out of the loop on that. Quote
pshojo Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 most people say that can't tune 1.5. I have local dyno shop that did it for me. Quote
RobertISaar Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 i've personally released very detailed files for use with tunerpro to play with the 94-95 3100/3.4RWD calibrations, everything except for the flashing program itself(which I don't possess the rights to). the tunercat TDF was extremely bug filled last I looked, so I can't recommend that until it's dealt with. Imp558 Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 I use Tunercat all the time with a homebrew rs232 interface. It's worked fine for years for me. I've never done a V6 with it though. My old Tunercat OBD II interface has a bunch of 3800s under it's belt, it's a pre-Jet unit. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 I still think the harness that Saar made for me converting 1.5 to 1 with a 9396pcm and tune from there was the easiest and best way to go IMHO. Sent from my iPhone Quote
pshojo Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 Wonder if this is easier if you do manual trans swap Quote

19Cutlass94 Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 Out of curiosity, how hard would it be to convert 1.5 to full blown OBD1 As easy as asking/paying Saar to make you an adapter harness (I say Saar cause he made mine) and getting a 9396pcm. Plug one end of the harness in the pcm, the other in the stock harness. You're done. Then tune. Simple as that. Sent from my iPhone Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 Wonder if this is easier if you do manual trans swap My swap was manual so it was very easy. I'm sure others have done this on an auto, but I can't speak for that since I haven't done it. Sent from my iPhone Quote
