GrandRegal Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Hi guys, I am replacing the entire a/c system in my brother's 97 cutlass supreme. I called the compressor manufacturer and they said the compressor comes prefilled with 6.8 oz of PAG oil and the system capacity is 8.0 oz. I flushed the entire system so there shouldn't be any oil left. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me the exact amounts of oil GM specs for the compressor, accumulator, condenser and evaporator? Thanks in advance! Quote
RobertISaar Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 GM gives kind of weird measurements here based off of what is drained from the individual components. they do state a total amount of 8oz PAG oil in the system, so if I were you, I would just stick the remaining 1.2oz necessary in the accumulator and not worry about spreading it around too much, that's going to happen within a second of the compressor engaging. if the compressor already has that much oil in it, I wouldn't add more, I've heard horror stories of the compressor hydrolocking when too much oil is in its case upon initial engagement and turning into a grenade. GrandRegal Posted August 14, 2016 Author Report Posted August 14, 2016 Saar I will make sure to add the additional oil into the accumulator and let the compressor take care of the rest. Thanks again! Quote
