So Besides Boost Guage what are 2 other Gugaes that you would recommend?

Ok so i am looking at doing some after market gauges for my Gen 3, I know i would like to do boost, But i am not sure what other gauges i should do. I am looking to do 3 total.

 

Recommendations welcome.

I would do battery if you don't keep the dic on battery (I do most of the time). If you're doing lots of mods maybe air/fuel or KR, but if not maybe coolant temp , possibly trans temp? Oooh, a clock!!!

ok being new to super charged cars what is KR ?

Do gen 3s have real oil pressure gauges?

I love my Fuel Pressure Gauge. My other 2 are Boost and Wineband O2

ok MR. Wizard Almighty! lol Can you recommend a KR Guage or anyone for that matter i am looking to stay around the 2" size maybe a bit bigger.

With boost I'd make them EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature), Trans Temperature (if automagic), and Oil Temperature

 

If this is an OBD-II car, I'd add Torque Pro and multiple readouts (volts, knock retard, advance, boost, fuel trim ) on a display. The three above are not normally available on ODB. Could also do same with ALDL but is a bit more complicated.

ok so i had an odd idea/thought today, so i know the DIC in my car has a boost meter/gauge. Is it possible to hook a Pod Boost Guage into this feed? If so would it be accurate?

Most vac/boost gauges are mechanical and do not have a sensor.  There are some expensive electronic ones but I don't see the point.  There is literally zero reason I can think of to have an EGT gauge on a supercharged car.

 

Volts, Oil, and Boost is what I've put in all of my L67 cars.  I wouldn't bother with KR, just get an OBD dongle and scan.

Everything else would be easier to have with torque pro on your phone and a bluetooth dongle on the connector.

Ok was just an odd idea so boost oil and volts, those sound simple enough.

 

Can you guys recommend a gauge brand that won't break the bank?

AutoMeter can be a little pricy, but I've had good luck getting them off Amazon and they go on sale every now and then. I haven't found a set that looks better than the Pro Comp Ultra Lite II Series.

OTOH I had a 6300 lb RV with a 2.4 liter TD that I always drove on the temperature gauge. Learned that from a turbo Corvair long before. Factory limited power with a small 1 barrel carb. If you "fixed" that and a few other things then it was easy to overtemp on a twisty road or a road course. EGT gave you more waning than a CHT (had a dual-CHT on it also).

 

Modern direct injected engines with boost like an Ecoboost 2.7 can do the same (3.5 usually runs cooler but has a bigger radiator, wonder if the new Ford GT will have an EGT gauge).

 

But then have always been strange about instrumentation. (DOHC 6 shown)

I understand what your saying, I would like to do one because my factory one stopped working and would like to do something a bit creative with "Princess"

And everyone one of those applications has the same thing in common: turbochargers. As far as diesels, they also tend to run richer, raising EGTs.  And an RV is more likely to be stressed for miles at a time (which you point out) going up hills, highway pulls, etc. 

 

Towing is a completely different beast and an EGT gauge is super useful.  EGT on an L67 family car is pointless.

The 3 that I am looking to get are boost oil and volt, and boost mainly because the factory one in the dic well the dic in general took a crap. Honestly never really referenced it.
