gmrulz4u
I'm confused about something when it comes to the 440-T4(4T60, non electronic) transmission... What effect does the Vacuum Modulator have, if any, once at WOT or anytime the car is accelerating at or near ZERO vacuum? For example, if I'm at a STOP, and then hit the gas to accelerate hard right away, the engine vacuum goes to 0" hg(ZERO) almost immediately, even though I'm still at least 4 or 5 seconds before the transmission will even shift into 2nd gear. Since the Vacuum Modulator has been maxed out from the second the gas/throttle was opened quickly, what controls the upshifting past that point? Is it just the Governor and/or TV Cable past that point or...?? Anyone? THANKS!
Guest Eurolumina92
there are shift selonides in the trans that use the rush of fluid to push the trans in to the next gear also helped by the vacume mod with no vacume your car would not shift untill almost 7000 rpms and at that point a stock motor would start to fall apart. my vacume mod on my trans went and the trans would not come out of first gear if you are having problems with the trans shifting check the fluid if it is if burt or real thick your clutch packs are burning up i hope i was some help let me know what u find out
quaddriver
On the non e models, if you lose the modulator, it will use governor pressure to shift, hence it will hold each shift to late and they will be abrupt. It wont neccessarily hurt it short term....but its not bad to get it fixed.
