quaddriver
ok my question is.is the tcc plug the same as my olds cutty plug? Im not sure I understand this....but depending on year, the non E models (4T60 and 440T4) either have a 4 pin plug or a 5 pin plug. If you have a 5 pin tranny (90 and newer) you can ditch the topmost pin and just wire in the 4 pins, putting a 4 pin tranny in a 5 pin car however is a bit more difficult. Only 2 wires are for the TCC: +12 hot and ECM ground. The rest are gear switches
PaPaPooh
ok my question is.is the tcc plug the same as my olds cutty plug? Only 2 wires are for the TCC: +12 hot and ECM ground. The rest are gear switches no your wrong thats for the 4T60E i have a 4T60 the other trans is a 4T60 also (im not sure what year the celeberty was) i also know both are 4 wire plugs i know the plugs maybe different 4T60 are vacuum shifted not electronicly shifted there for the wires don't control shifts 4T60E didn't come in w-bodies untill 93 and my question is if the plug is round, square, or any other shape? i know that they are different in alot of other models i know my 89 cutty has a different plug than a 91 cutty plug

I believe the pins on the 89 are +12, ECM TCC control, 2nd gear and 3/4 gear. On the 91 it is +12, ECM TCC control, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. On the 89, 2nd gear switch is used by the ECM so that when throttle angle goes to zero and the car is in second for >3 seconds, the TCC is locked to provide greater compression braking. the 3/4 switch is used to tell the ECM that the tranny is available for TCC lockup on a cruise. The same exists on the 91 (actually I beleive 90 was the cutoff year for the difference in switches) except 3rd and 4th gear have additional programming in the ecm to vary injector pulse, timing and lockup parameters (the car will come out of lockup with less throttle pressure in 4th than 3rd) the 89 plug is a 4 cornered plug, the 90 plug has the 5th pin added at the "top" so it is sort of pentangular
Redfox340
4T60E didn't come in w-bodies untill 93 Well, no... because my old Cutlass DOHC had the 4T60-E auto tranny. PaPaPooh, if both trannys are 4T60's (vacuum controlled) the swap will be cinch. However, something to consider will be the gear ratios... you may gain / lose power due to cruising RPM's. - Erik
PaPaPooh
well i had checked at a local j/y last winter when they looked in the interchange book they said only 1 other car (can't remember what one they siad) would work with the harness thats why i ask but today i will ask him what year it came out of and i will look in all data at the wiring scematic (sp?) to see if it will match mine i heard it was 93 when the first 4t60e was put in i guess where i saw that they where wrong or maybe the DOHC came with it i don't know for sure thanks for the correction tho now i know
