Mstg007 Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 I am still dealing with my automatic door locks. I have replace both apertures. I was looking around for a door relay in this mess, but I found some corrosion and wires that are rusted apart. As I would wiggle the harness around I could hear the door lock sound. Any ideas on this? Is there a good way to clean out these parts? Thanks! http://tinypic.com/r/311njig/9 http://tinypic.com/r/2ll0yuw/9 Quote
Nas Escobar Posted May 30, 2016 Report Posted May 30, 2016 If the wires are corroded apart you have to cut them at the corrosion and splice in a bridge. The connector shouldn't be a problem unless it's melted together, which in that case the best way to deal with it would be to get a new connector. You would have to depin the old one and use the one from a yard car. Do you have pics of where it is corroded? Quote
jman093 Posted June 3, 2016 Report Posted June 3, 2016 The wire is completely broken out of the connector. You could very well de-pin and cut a wire out of a salvage yard rig and splice it in (and that is the proper repair), but honestly I would just cut the same wire on the other side of the connector and splice them together directly (with solder and heat shrink, NOT BUTT CONNECTORS/SCOTCH LOCKS). It's not like you're going to be needing to disconnect that connector and separate the harnesses frequently. Quote
Imp558 Posted June 3, 2016 Report Posted June 3, 2016 A welder tip cleaner set works well for cleaning female pins. Quote
