Factory or JCW Performance Enhancement ?

In R&Ring the thermostat I had a look inside the throttle body intake hose and see what looks like a super turbine air vortex power injector. Think I last saw one around the first fuel crisis.

 

Is this something the factory did or the PO found in a catalog ?

Turns out I have a gen-u-ine $69.00 Tornado with CARB approval no less. Is now sitting on the bench. Seems I remember them being tested during the fuel crisis and being found to do no harm. Only thing that actually saved gas was a device called the PassMaster that went in the AC relay and connected to a vacuum source. If the MAP went below 5" as when passing it would turn the AC off.

Long time since I've seen one of those. I wouldn't toss it, but would chop it up to repurpose for some other use.

No chopping, will go on the wall with other oddball stuff that dates back to the 30's.

Are there magnets on the fuel lines too?

Haven't found any but there is this giant decal in the backlight I'd like to remove since cannot see through it but seems to be under the tinting.
