jake91 Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Ok so I've been seeing quite a bit about installing HUD lately, and just remembered that i took pics when i did mine 6 years ago of the factory specs for cutting the dash pad, and never shared them. Start by measuring in 2in from edge closest to steering wheel Measure back 1/2 inch from defroster vent Measure right 1-3/4 inch from speaker grill Now that you have your important edges for placement comes cutting time. Using previous points of reference cut an 8-1/4 in deep by 6-1/2 wide hole And here is your end result Hud installed Good luck! Edited March 23, 2016 by runt Formatting. Padgett Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 Saw a picture of a HUD dashpad. Don't you need a mounting plate underneath ? Quote
jake91 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Yes you will need the mounting plate. This write up is just so you can cut the dash to line up correctly with the mounting plate you will install underneath, and have a factory appearance Edited March 23, 2016 by jake91 MemphisMan 1 Quote
Nas Escobar Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 Where did you get the pod gauges? Quote
rich_e777 Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 My dash would never survive me hacking on it, my luck I`d spend a week measuring it and slowly and precisely cut three sides perfect and the last 1/8 inch on the final side would split the dash in two. Then comes the fun of trying to run that adjustment cable from the hud all the way down to the lower cubby and I bet if that cable is even slightly kinked up it wont work. I have seen just the dash cover pads and figured if ones dash is really FUBAR one could hack it up any sort of ways and then just cut a better looking hole in the cover. Quote
Nas Escobar Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 Rich, i still have my warped dash if you want it. I assume you could just do new foam and vynil. I plan on doing that with the Luminas dash. I got a spare frame forit Quote

jake91 Posted March 29, 2016 Author Report Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) Where did you get the pod gauges?I made it. A buddy gave me a 2nd gen GP pod, and I hacked it up then fiberglassed it to the factory pillar. Edited March 29, 2016 by jake91 Quote
