jason32073
The belt came off the AIR pump several years ago on my 93 3100. I thought it was the AC compressor (not very mechanical back then) so I didn't really worry about it. The Haynes book states that is only necessary for the 5 speed transmission. However I have not noticed any performance difference over the years. Thoughts?
jman093
I've never actually seen an air pump on these cars. Makes sense if it's 5 speed only. You're right in that it won't affect performance much one way or the other. Probably worth a couple horsepower if left off. jason32073
jason32073
That's what I was thinking. I have been thinking about removing it altogether.
pitzel
IIRC, it wasn't a performance item. More of an emissions control item. If it works with it "disabled", then don't see the point of re-enabling.
