Marcus18
after driving my STE with the exaust off I've been brain storming. I though about it and how much power do you think could be gained from having a wastegate before the cat and have a boost controller setup so when a certain amount of backpressure is reached it dumps the rest. I figure this would probably work best on the 3.4L but I think it could add alittle top end. added bonus is it would scare people when the thing dumps it. marcus
Justin
That's a cool idea, you wouldn't lose much if any torque. It would really have to have a hair trigger, since there wouldn't be such a dramatic difference like when a regular bov goes off. They do make electric dumps, so a guy has to make "something" that tells it to open up when you hit 3500 or whatever RPM. Problem there is it wouldn't be fast enough, and it would have to snap closed when you upshift, or you would lose all your initial torque. 99RegalGS
Just have a valve with a spring on it. and get different springs with different pressure to adjust when it opens. I would make a pic but i can't host it right now.
no1kicker
that's a pretty cool idea. I have an electronic exhaust cutout on my TA before the cat and it's loud as hell. Also a little more power on the highway.
