Ambient air temperature sensor

Ok so I just installed a new sensor but still no reading on my DIC. Still keeps reading -40 as outside temp. Checked the wiring and it looks to be wired correctly? Previous owner must of changed the plug at some point because it looks like it's a newer one. My vehicle sticker says it had a trip computer so I'm guessing that was the DIC and the sensor already came on it so It wouldn't have to be hard wired by the previous owner? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to drive it around or something before it reads correctly? This is a brand new sensor. 40f78e6cd28c61437c747b87261f74fb.jpg2800bbcefa0c77e7624fc51c20ef907e.jpg

Anyone? Couldn't find a thread that tells me if these are the correct wires. Hope it's not a faulty sensor

take a multimeter and read the resistance between the two wires. Also, assuming this was just for testing, but you'll want to shrink wrap the wires to keep water out.

Appreciate the response. I'll give that a try! Yes wires were bare just for testing!
