bronze93 Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem? I really don't understand how the rear speakers work on this. Why are there 4 wires per speaker? I understand the standard wiring but why are there capacitors? Attached is a pic of the drivers side speaker. The yellow and brown wires feed the speaker from the radio but what are the other wires? Quote
55trucker Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 Do you have a Monsoon sound system in the car? Quote
bronze93 Posted November 13, 2015 Author Report Posted November 13, 2015 I don't know. Is there any way to tell? Quote
95greenSE Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 It prolly has a factory amp, hence the extra wires, you could either have a bad amp, or speakers are shot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
bronze93 Posted November 14, 2015 Author Report Posted November 14, 2015 Where would the amp be located if I have one? Quote
55trucker Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 In the GP.... not sure where it may have been placed, the later GP's put the amp in the parcel shelf, I take it that the head unit doesn't have the *Monsoon* label above the lcd display? if you do have a monsoon system all the speakers will have a bottom end driver & a high end driver which will be fitted with crossovers (as in your photo) and the wiring to those drivers from the amp will all be separates to maximize the sound. bronze93 Posted November 14, 2015 Author Report Posted November 14, 2015 I just removed an aftermarket radio with an OEM radio so I don't know what the original radio was. Quote
Goldenregal Posted November 15, 2015 Report Posted November 15, 2015 Swap the connections. The brown and yellow wires go directly to the radio, the other come from the amp. Goldenregal 1 Quote
55trucker Posted November 15, 2015 Report Posted November 15, 2015 ^ Shouldn't be able to do that, the molded connectors are keyed. Quote
