.....that was irritated when they started to make 4dr GTPs????? As a former GTP owner I still to this day don't consider 4dr GTPs a real GTP.....

....any similar thoughts from any of you here or am I the only one??

I too dislike the 4-door GTPs...it seems like its all about "family" now...what with the SS Silverado being an extended cab..the SS concept car being 4 door. GM sees what Nissan is doing with their Maxima and their copying, plain and simple

Impala SS's, Mercury Maurader and theres alot of AMG M-B's running around with 4 doors, the term sedan aint that bad.

I think that ya'll are missing my point....I like a lot of four door cars, the 94-97 Impala SS', the WRX's, even the Mazda 6

.....I just can't get over the 2dr GTP, they didn't do it to the Z34 too did they???

GTP = Grand Touring Package right? Then that means it is made for comfort, 4 doors has more room then a 2 door.

That would make sense.. but I doubt it. Cause 'GT' is 'Grand Tourismo?' (Or Grand Touring) Don't remember..

Soo adding the 'P' for 'Package wouldn't make sense.

'Performance' perhaps?

Grand Touring Performance

I dunno.

I too wish they'd kept the GTP in coupe-only form. Besides money, the price of automotive coolness is money. Coupe's are cooler than sedan's. It also irks me that they didn't make a '97+ Regal. The Regal is a car that, at many times in the past has had no 4-door option. I wish they had at least made a Regal coupe.

That said, the only 4-door cars I think are attractive are W-Bodies, N-Bodies, mid 90's Impala's, and the occasional Grand Marquis or Crown Vic.

Being that I have a 4 door 01 GTP..you should be able to tell I like them  ...on a 97+ GTP, I would not own *another* coupe(had an 00 coupe before the 01 sedan I own now)..I do not like the coupes all that well due to the fact that the door appears to be too short for a car of the GP's size. THe four doors fill out the car better and look better in my opinion...just look at some w/ the different hoods, spoilers, etc...makes them look even better. On a pre-97, I would rarely(if ever) choose a four door over a two door..the pre 97 GP's have perfectly sized large doors that fit the car perfectly 8) ...not saying I wouldn't own a pre-97 four door Prix though because I'm probably buying a 91 STE off of a local friend sometime soon..it's sitting in the corner of a shop not being driven since the guy has about seven or eight other vehicles of which most of those don't get driven either..

it's supposedly how you put it in your next to last line you typed.."Grand Touring Performance" I do not know if anyone has confirmed that 100% w/ pontiac or whatever but most say that is what it stands for.

I know what you mean, that was just my opinion/input on this, you're not saying you hate four doors nor was I trying to imply that w/ anything I said..you were simply stating that you don't like how pontiac/gm took a sedan(usually family oriented car...for practicality(sp?...damn gasoline fumes have gotten to me today) and branded it with the "GTP" name which was associated with a sporty coupe or a sportier car in the early GTP coupes...from my take on this, you're basically just irked(if you will) by the fact that they took a sedan(sybmolic for FAMILY) and branded/tried to brand it as a sports car.....and my take on it is that it is a "sports car" or a sports "w/ a hint of luxury" sedan might be better...it does have more power than the previous GTP's  so I don't see much of a problem with calling it that. 8)

*replying to bolded text  *, might as well do that, the new ones look like a damn Bonne anyway  ..throw some SSEI badges on it instead and you could probably fool most dealerships into thinking it was a new Bonne

Yeah I saw that before. I think that looks really good.. but I don't like those miniquads on there.. it just gets too narrow at that point.

How much did that whole ordeal set you back?
