Trouble Code 42 on 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L V6

When driving the car for about 7 minutes or above then the engine starts misfiring and I ease the gas pedal while going downhill and the misfiring disappeared but I did got the Trouble Code 42. Parked the car for about 8 hours and driven it back home and the engine starts misfiring and I tried to ease the gas pedal but I was climbing on a hill and the engine died. I tried to crank it and it does crank but would not catch. I waited for 3 minutes and then it started again and was able to go home.

Based on the manual it is the Electronic Spark Timing (Ignition control circuit) and the probable cause is Faulty connections or ignition module.

I am thinking that it might be a failing Crankshaft Position Sensor or probably it is shorting out.

The manual does not have a Trouble Code for the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Does anyone of you got a Trouble Code 42 before? If so, was the Ignition Module the culprit or something else?

Other suggestions is welcomed.
