pitzel Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) [video=youtube;kXGVM3jBGqU] Ouch! A W-body too! The failed part of the subframe is at 0:47 and 1:10 in the video, just forward of the rear bushing. Edited March 2, 2015 by pitzel Quote
2001goldGTP Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 ouch, i have just changed my subframe bushings and while i had it apart i sanded off the bit of rust hat was starting and painted it. The sad thing is mine is a California car and as never been to the snow. Quote
94 olds vert Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 This happened to my old Gp. I had it welded up for a bit before replacing the frame. Quote
Psych0matt Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 For a second I almost thought this was the one I bought Quote
Torque_Effect Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 O_O Going to have to check this myself on my Monte. That is extremely scary. Quote
Torque_Effect Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Well getting a look at the rear part of the front subframe from the top of the passenger side, it looks rust free on mine which is a relief. 208k in a salty state, rear strut towers are my only worry at the moment. Quote
2001goldGTP Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 My other subframe bushings are making noise now and i need to change them and i have already ordered. What i dont understand about this video is that they guy had no warning? mine arent even close to having a failure like that and they are creaking, moaning and popping. I would think one would have to ignore the signs for a very long time to cause this kind of failure. Quote
snippits Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 With all that rust out, a leaking distributor o-ring would be a good thing. Quote
