ECM pinouts

Can anyone tell me where I can find pinouts for a '96 and '97 Lumina so that I can compare the two? Something is getting missed and I am going to make this work:think:

1996 service manual, and 1997 service manual.

Probably about $30 each on eBay. I think I paid under $30 for a 1998 W service manual including shipping, for my Dad's car.

Service Manual. The prices are all over the place (I paid $35 for mine), but you can find em on ebay.

I found one for you. It's not in the best shape, but the pages are intact and that's what matters.

This is really all you need. Just get one for each corresponding year, although I assume 96 and 97 were the same due to 97 being the last year for the LQ1 and the 4T60-E

Thanks guys! I have more projects than you can shake a stick at and am ordering parts off of ebay all the time, never even thought to look for service manuals there.

97 LQ1 got the 4T65.

stock vs stock, a 4T65 can handle about 5 lb-ft more than the 4T60. neither are particularly reliable with a brawny engine powering them or having to move a massive vehicle.

the significant difference between a 4T60E and a 4T65 is that the 65 uses a pressure control solenoid(which is PCM controlled) for line pressure, the 60E uses a vacuum modulator(relying upon manifold vacuum/pressure) for line pressure.

there are a lot of other tiny differences, but that is the big one. there have been HD versions of both, AFAIK it is entirely limited to the differential and possibly output shaft being different? otherwise, little change. reasonable use with stock engines tends to last at least the life of the vehicle with the exception of the LS4 powered W-bodies.... those are built beyond what a normal 4T65-HD is, but they still can't seem to hold up with anything other than light usage.

the 4T80 is a wildly different design(and the 4T40 is essentially a light-duty version of that), only ever used with the northstar engines. they're gigantic and heavy, but they're not easily killed either.
