phantomFE3
Everybody expects mustangs and camaros to be fast. Thats why its fun as hell to see people build a v6 w-body and see them take down a mustang or camaro. Thats what makes it worth it the look on there faces when a v6 hangs with them or beats them. Hell anybody can take a sbc chevy or ford and get 300+hp out of them but not everyone can do it with a V6. but how much money will you spend to make the v6 faster? what i was getting at is if you spend like 3 grand on a decent mustang gt you will have plenty of speed right there, spend a few more hundred dollars and youll have alot more speed that you will spending a ew 100 on a v6 w-body. its just that mustangs and camaros are sports cars, they were built for exceptional speed, most w-bodys werent build to be extremely high performance vehicles, thats why most w-bodies and v6's and more f-bodys and mustangs have v8's. the mustangs coolness stops at '94 when they stopped putting the 5.0 in, or maybe it was 95? i dunno, but then it picks up again with the new supercharged ones. 4.6 liters isnt big enough
gp90se
simple. 1. add a turbocharger & intercooler 2. swap in a 5-speed manual joshua DING Very Simple, do a search on turbo and 5 speed swaps, cost ya under $2000 to do both yourself and you get into the 14s at 11lbs boost. -Jeff
Baddflash
Phantom, I think the point of this forum is directly related to our cars, W-bodys and not Fu**ing mustangs and camaro's. This means unless we want to waste our time on a V-8 swap we have to think of how to make our v-6's fast. It's also the fact of making our little v-6 cars beat the ass off a mustang or camaro that makes it all worth while, I know that's my goal. Guest TurboSedan
nothing really funny about that IMO, that's why we want to make them fast. it's called building a sleeper. also, anyone can make a Mustang or F-body fast; just go buy the right parts. it isn't that easy with our V6s' - you need to be creative and know what you're doing. the size of the engine or number of cylinders doesn't mean the car is faster. my Turbo GTS will probably always spank my Turbo CS despite 2 less cylinders and only 135ci. joshua

rudefyet
Kinda like canadian badass said: The 3.4L you refered to it the DOHC in the 96 GTP...due to the DOHC configuration it makes it more like a Nissan style V6....HP and Torque being almost the same numbers....so with that 215hp there is only about 215 torque (i don't know the exact specs) But with the older pushrod engines the torque is much higher compared to the HP...the stock 3.1L out of my 90 GP makes 140hp and 180lb-ft of torque...combined with a cold air intake gets me a 1/4 mile in low 17's not great but better then any other 140hp engine i've had. So as a rough estimate...that 225HP version would have aprroximatly 265lb. ft. of torque and that will make all the difference Trust me i know idea what torque was until my GP
Guest TurboSedan
[quote name="phantomFE3 your car is a turbo? wow..... thats awesome, and a 5 speed? [/quote] actually it's not turbocharged yet :? i still have the original n/a 3.1 in the car right now. my TGP engine is sitting on my brother's garage floor waiting to go in. i swapped in a Getrag 282 5-speed about a year and a half ago, and it REALLY helped acceleration. unfortunately the Getrag went boom about 2 months after i bought my TGP engine, so i've been busy swapping in the 2nd Getrag 282 since. the tranny swap is done now - i just need to fix the exhaust manifold before i can drive it 250 miles north to where my TGP engine is. i've also been busy getting my GTS on the road, so the TGP engine swap has been delayed. i changed my sig when i bought the TGP engine but since i have the tranny swap done and my GTS is now running & driving, i *should* be able to start the TGP engine swap very soon now. i hate running into unexpected snags :!: btw, i have an extra TGP crossover pipe, TGP T-25 turbocharger, 2 TGP intercoolers, a set of upper & lower charge pipes, TGP radiator, TGP tranny cooler, and air box for sale if anyone is looking for Turbo Grand Prix engine parts :!: joshua
