derkach99
I am just replacing this part on my Cutlass, I am just wondering what the part is responsible for? What does it do?
RobertISaar
it is a vacuum reservoir, used exclusively(or almost exclusively) for the HVAC stuff. it MIGHT be used with cruise control, but I would have to do some digging to confirm. I am pretty sure it helps maintain airflow when you drive up hills but that's the only difference I have noticed. I brought a new genuine one for $26. My cruse control has its odd hiccup but it otherwise works fine.
RobertISaar
actually..... being a 94, you would have SMCC, which doesn't use vacuum to move the throttle, so that should be for HVAC only.
Imp558
94 has 4T60 transmission with a vacuum modulator. it's just a little bit too firm when you don't have that in. aside from that I assume it would reserve some vacuum for the brake booster as well but probably not too much cuz it isn't very big and it's a tiny line to it. Cars with the 4T65 E transmission don't have that as far as I can tell so I think thatis really just there for the vacuum modulator on the tranny
