as much as i also hate them, i guess if you live an area where you would otherwise be harassed for them not working, it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least know what went wrong.

alldata is specifying between with and without fog lamps, which one is accurate?

Why do so many people hate DRL? My cutlass has fog lights. I am still trying to find bulbs that I am happy with for those :/

^^^^^^

Because GM manages to get something simple wrong... as always. The DRL is almost always the high beam ran at a lower wattage. If they were the turn signals as they are on the Regal, Camaro, et al, they wouldnt be so much of an issue.

Why do so many people hate DRL?

Because there's no basis in science for requiring them. Everyone with a brain knows that there's no need for headlights in the daytime. This is nothing more than Politically Correct "think of the children" crap. I honestly think it started as a GM marketing mistake, so that GM cars were instantly identifiable on the road.

There is NOT ONE peer-reviewed scientific study that shows that DRLs actually improve safety; although there are several non-peer-reviewed studies from high-latitude (reduced sunlight) foreign (socialist, Big Brother Knows Best) countries that pretend to come to that conclusion. I actually wrote to GM asking for copies of the scientific studies used to justify DRLs; they sent me links to press releases instead.

Adding injury to insult, many vehicles use the headlights as the lighting element of the DRLs. Even worse, some use the HIGH BEAMS, which makes it especially bad for distracting, harmful glare in oncoming motorist's eyes.

In short, DRLs are both an active nuisance, and a passive bullshit solution to a problem that doesn't exist except in the minds of Liberal Nutjobs.

I wouldn't have thought that would be difficult. Did GM disco the lamps?

Please tell me you don't have them lit in-town, or whenever it isn't foggy out.

i'm pretty sure if someone can't see my car during the daytime, having low-powered lights slowly reducing their useful life at an annoying angle isn't going to be beneficial to them or me.

anyways, http://imgur.com/k4TLvsM,bgdtfg1

that is the relevant diagram for you, i would start at the fuses and breaker and probe for voltage until you don't find ~12V. if you get all the way to the bulbs and still have +12V, then you get to probe the ground side of things until you find a fault there.

I found the diode, it is covered with a sponge on one side. i turned the car on and shock it around the best I could and my friend standing outside the car told me that the running lights where flickering and on consistently at one point. I just have no idea on how to remove/unplug the diode to take a look. Any ideas?
