iCrash
1999 Chevy Lumina 3.1 The grommet for the vent tube from the rear valve cover is bad. Is this something that comes with the gasket kit for the valve covers or is it included with the tube? Its causing the Lumina to almost stall and die under any load. Michael Savage
Very common issue. I would suggest buying a new one if you can find a place that can get them. They're not high, but you can also look around a scrap yard and usually find one good still on a pipe, also the 3500 pipe works better and doesn't have as bad of issue of popping out, so IDE suggest getting both while you're at it. RobertISaar
if you want a quick fix, plug the hole in the intake tubing that the plastic line slips into(or if that connection is good, plug the other side), that will air from getting in past the MAF and get it at least drivable, but be warned your engine will now suck in anything that happens to be in the area of the rear valve cover when the PCV valve opens and draws air through it. while it's closed it may send some oil out. some include it with the valve cover gaskets, others don't. iCrash
So is this the better replacement? What makes the one from the 3500 better? And what cars can I get it from (Malibu, Impala)? Michael Savage
As far as I know the pipe has bends at slightly different angles and stuff that makes it seal better. I'm working on getting one myself soon. But I've heard good things about the 3500 one fixing peoples issues with it.
iCrash
Went to the U-pick yard and grabbed one off a Buick. The bends were different but the lengths were the same and it worked out great. However a new issue has arose. I'll make a new thread.
