porting/shaving heads

Hey everybody-

As some of you have probably read, I'm doing an upper engine rebuild this summer on my 1990 3.1 MPFI (LH0). I've already gotten an upper and lower intake to use, and I plan to submerge each in engine cleaner to try and clean em up a bit. Do you guys think it would be worth the money to have a machine shop port and polish the upper and lower intakes on my 3.1?

Second, I'm looking for a set of 3.1 heads. When I find some, do you guys think it would be worth my money to have them port/polished, and then have them shaved?

Thanks for your opinions!

You'll want to match both the heads and the intakes to recieve noticable gains.

Plus you may want to consider a more agressive canshaft to get the full power benifit.

Otherwise doing the project in stages won't show much untill all parts are matched.

I had it done to my car when I blew a headgasket about a year ago and i couldnt tell hardly any power gains I might have gained 10hp and it cost me $600 bucks altogether . I agree with Robby if your going to do it do it all at the same time.
