93GTP
This is the "mysterious" reason why my Z34 5 speed donor car doesn't run. I say mysterious because the owner had no idea why it didnt run, when I went to pick it up some guy that knew her (the owner) said the reason why HE thought it didnt run was because the throw out bearing fell out and binded up in the input shaft... Yeah, sure buddy...
Bolt_Crank
that is sooooo gonna be what my car looks like when my timing belt goes.... but I can't afford to replace it.... f-ing $130 at the dealership for the belt.... Canadian Tire is $85 but I dunno if I wanna trust a CT POS... oh.... btw.... which two pulleys am I supposed to replace at the same time? o.o
H.P.Productions
eww I would replace it before it brakes and jumps time.....cause I know a guy with a 94 dohc that jumped time and no auto shop in town including my dads will even touch it.......(they say it would take too long to line up the crank and all four cams to top dead center)
Slade901
Are those engines non-interference?
Redfox340
Are those engines non-interference? Yeah, but there is still a slight chance of having internal damage. It's been proven, but rare. My DOHC didn't have internal problems when it snaped. oh.... btw.... which two pulleys am I supposed to replace at the same time? o.o It's the two plastic idler pulleys. Also, you'll want to replace the acuator with it. Thats saves you from doing the repair twice since the pulley / acuator make a difference in belt wear. - Erik
Vegeta
yeah, its so fricken hard to find TDC...you gotta watch the mark on the crank dampener and match it to the timing chain cover mark. SmokesGTP
About 6 months ago I was at this local yard, garys-u-pull it in case anyone has heard of it. There is a red Z34 in awesome shape in the yard that looks to have just gotten there and it's an auto, 92' I believe. The window read "1000$ runs poorly, tune-up maybe?" I looked under the hood and the timing belt was half shredded just like mine was. People are so stupid. If I had the cash I would have offered him a few hundred for it. It only had like 100k on it. Oh well maybe a 5-speed will come along.
