levi7595 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 I have the engine, tranny, computer, and radiator from a 1990 grand prix mcclaren. I also have a 2000 regal ls with the 3.8 vs none super charged i need to know if the tranny from the 90 grand prix will fit in my 2000 regal ls? Quote
White93z34 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 It will physically fit, but that will be beginning and ending of it. Short answer, No. will not work. Long answer, if you *really, really* wanted to and had the means to mess with the PCM.... maybe? Quote
RobertISaar Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 seeing a TV cable attached to a S2 3800 would be quite the sight. Quote
levi7595 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 What tranny is in the 00 regal 4t60? Quote
tornado_735 Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 4T65-E. "E" being the important letter here. Quote
levi7595 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 What would i have to do to make this possible i know it is a long stretch but low on money and cant afford a new tranny Quote
tornado_735 Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Making this work would cost more money than finding another 4T65E at the junkyard. Quote
levi7595 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Report Posted April 29, 2014 Thanks tornado_753 is it just me or is this tranny a problem for alot of people? Quote
GP1138 Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 What would i have to do to make this possible i know it is a long stretch but low on money and cant afford a new tranny Don't even bother. Whatever you could cobble together would likely not work for very long at all, if at all. The transmission in your McLaren is vacuum controlled, and the transmission in the Regal is electrically controlled. Protip: put the engine/trans on Craigslist for $500. I guarantee that shit will sell for at least $400 and that's enough to grab a decent mileage 4T65E from a pick'n'pull yard. Quote
Nas Escobar Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Sell the TGP parts. Use money from TGP parts to buy 4T65E trans at a yard or Craigslist. Install new trans in Regal Enjoy. The transmissions are different in the 1990 GP and 2000 Regal. There's no point of getting the trans to work, especially considering that the 4T65 is a better transmission and is more beefed up than the 4T60. Everything you spend on that "swap" would come out to be more than a decent 4T65E from a yard. Quote
