sttubs Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 I have a '93 Cutlass Supreme convertible with power brakes but they are not working correctly. It takes a lot of force to the brake pedal & has increased the stopping distance considerably. Any thoughts? Quote
Heartbeat1991 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Is it a PMIII system on this car too? Quote
RobertISaar Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 should be ABS-VI, if it was optioned to have ABS. i would look at the booster or master cylinder as being culprits. Quote
Heartbeat1991 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Assuming they are vacuum assist, I would start with a vacuum leak, possibly the check valve on the booster, or lastly the booster itself. Quote
Galaxie500XL Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 I had a similar problem with my '95, turned out the vacuum hose going to the booster had gotten very soft, and was collapsing, so I replaced the hose. Quote
nitehawkjcb Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Check the brake booster and vacuum line, and of course check the brake system for air and proper fluid level... good luck. Quote
sttubs Posted April 28, 2014 Author Report Posted April 28, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions. The car does not have the ABS. Quote
