Battery light is on, my GP broke down

So I have an issue here. My battery light came on 3 days ago so I figured I'd put in a new battery. The battery light was still on after the new one was put in. The weird thing is that I replaced the alternator and serpentine belt 6 months ago so I have no idea what this can be. During the 3 days I drove it, my blinkers were staying solid and the battery light would even turn off at times if I was accelerating or parked. the only thing that seemed to really freak me out was when it was breaking down, the engine was running a little hot and then my radio shut off then the car bogged down. When I pulled over and parked I shut off the car then It wouldn't start again, but my interior and exterior lights worked. I ended up getting the thing towed home. Im kind of out of my expertise here since my battery and alternator are new. What else could cause this issue?

Check the AUX post near the fuse block under the hood. Those like to corrode and cause hella issues.

If that's good or you clean it and the problem persists, then you might have a shit alternator. It's not uncommon to have 'new' alternators take a dump.

Just about any parts store can test your charging system as well.

The battery light doesn't always mean the battery is failing, sometimes it can mean that the alternator isn't charging the battery well.

I would have the alternator tested and go from there. Also, clean/change your terminals just to be on the safe side.

Could someone into more detail about cleaning the terminals? I've never done that before haha

It's on the driver side next to the fender well. There should be a red cap on it. Pull that red cap off, and there is a post with a cable and nut on it. This is the AUX post. It is connected directly to the positive battery terminal, so be careful not to short it out with a wrench or something. Best bet is to pull the cable off of the positive battery terminal before you mess with it, unless you're dumb like me.

Also be careful, these AUX posts can get extremely hot if there's a poor connection. I found that one out the hard way.
