96grandprix Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Anybody know the gm part # of the drivers door check link on a 2 door 1996 grand prix se? Its the little arm that keeps the door open, located in between the door hinges. Quote
PCGUY112887 Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 GM part #10204701 it is indeed called the Check Link. Good luck getting it for a decent price however. Seems like probably a rare part now... Google shows some around $100 :-/ You can get one from a junkyard from the pass. side and it should interchange. I took the liberty of looking this up in the service manual to give some direction on how to do this. I could use one of these in my GP however it's just a bit of noise still holds alright. Quote
Nas Escobar Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Not to derail this thread, but if the door were to be sagging or not level, would that be the culprit? Quote

No, this is the piece that stops the door from opening too far. If your door is sagging, your hinges are probably worn out. Quote
pshojo Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 This is good info, mine doesn't hold and makes noise, figured they are just not avail Quote
