tornado_735
First things first: 2006, N/A 3800, 4T65-E, mileage is 108,2xx miles. About two months ago, I was doing a lot of stop and go driving in a neighborhood, looking at houses for sale. All of a sudden, the transmission started to slam gears while upshifting. I checked the fluid temp in the DIC, and it was rather high, around 195*. I did a key cycle, and though transmission temps stayed high (according to the DIC), it shifted normally again for the rest of the day. I did not get a service engine light during this time. Fast forward to last Thursday, and this past Saturday. Sitting at traffic lights, I go to accelerate after the light turns green, and I get a half second of free revving before it feels as though the transmission kind of falls into gear (feels like shifting into gear from neutral with engine RPM above idle). This has only happened twice, once each on Thursday and Saturday. It shifted normally each time afterwards without any action on my part. Today, I decided to run second gear out on the freeway. Pulls all the way to 5500ish (wherever the checkered yellow bar begins on the tach) and it seems to hold there, almost as though I was against the rev limiter. It stuck there for almost a full second, then shifted to third. I did it again trying to duplicate the results, but the second time, it shifted as soon as it hit 5500rpm, just like in this video: Thankfully, the only reason I'm driving this car is because it came with a warranty for half the life of my loan, and all internal transmission components (among other things) are covered under said warranty. What I want to know is this: Has anybody else experienced similar issues, and if so, what was the root cause? All of my research is pointing toward either a line pressure solenoid, or a shift timer solenoid, but I just want to get a second opinion. Thanks! RobertISaar
i wouldn't consider 195 high at all..... that is right around where i would expect the trans to be after some extended driving, especially stop/go. with the 3100/4T60E on the highway, i see ~150-160, in-town causes 180-220 range, depending on how bad the traffic is. tornado_735
Huh, ok. I always figured 190ish to be high. That's good to know though. Less to worry about. It should be worth noting that I do have a service engine light now, BUT it's a P0446 evap code.
