Exhaust manifold question

I just put a 97 Monte Carlo 3.4 dohc motor into my 96 Gtp. I noticed that the 96 motor I pulled out had a flange for a donut style gasket from the rear manifold to the downpipe. The 97 motor is just flat on the rear manifold but it still lists a donut style gasket to go there and the gasket doesn't have a flange build in. Does anyone know what I am supposed to use? Thanks

I actually just found out that I have to use a 97 dp because they are bigger then the 96 ones and my dp won't bolt up to my back manifold now. Would anyone happen to have a stock 97 Monte Carlo dp with cat (it can be hollowed out)?

What engine came out of the GTP? When I did my swap I had 3 manifolds to choose from, and 3 different size flanges. In the end I used the manifold that came with the car, not sure if thats an option.

I can look but i usually can only find 95 and 96 z34s. Wonder if a 3400 dp will fit?

sounds like he swapped a 96 3.4 out for a 97 3.4. for some reason, the manifolds were changed between the two years.

easiest suggestion from me is to use the 96 manifolds on the 97 3.4. i don't think you'll be losing anything by doing so.

I kno on 3100s in 97 got the better flowing large port manifolds. @imp- yeah l36 use exact same manifolds. I have l67 front and l36 rear on mine. Checked hollander on that :)

Yet another similarity...

Lol yeah. Ur car isnt black is it ;). Mine came from a park av which has a unique rear manifold. Had to get a lower mount bracket and a high pres ps line so i just dropped the motor on an 03 gp gt in the jy :)

I have options of every year of 3.4 Dohc motor as I have over 8 of the motors laying around. I have found that the rear manifold on the 97 motor has a 3" hole and the one from the 96 motor only has a 2.75" hole. But the four bolt flange downstream from the cat is close enough to the same that it can be bolted up. So I will be getting a 97 do which should help flow a little more maybe. I should have just put my milzy headers on it when I put the motor in but I wanted to know a baseline of what I'm dealing with
