All you TGP owners I need your help on this one.

I'm going to talk to a this guy today about his 1990 TGP that he is selling. I need to have a number in my head about what to offer him or what is too high for his asking price. I want to make it a project car not a parts car. What do you guys think is fair...thanks you!

Hers's the scenerio on the car.

Hi Dan

OK here goes l will give you a bit of info on the GP yes its

still for sale after l get pictures of it ( l have to borrow a my

sisters camera) l will be putting it back on Ebay like it says

in my ad unless of course you want to pursue it farther after

l give you the info.. if so let me know My problem was that l

had 5 people wanting pictures and l have none at this time

and that was the first day! so l figured l will wait till the snow

and the crappy weather subsides take pictures and re-list it.

Ok the car was first owned by the Buffalo bills as a VIP

transport then was sold to the person l bought it off of

who drove it for about 4 years before it got rear ended and

put in a garage and left because it was too bent to drive

this was at the 68, 441 mile mark, l went over there 2 years

ago after my brother spotted it and purchased it, put a transport

plate on it and drove it home, fell in love with it and started

trying to fix it .. was gonna back half it then found out that

sometime it had been hit in the front too!.. so! trying to make

it so it would be "Right" and straight l went searching for

another body.. found one up near Ollcott Beach and brought

it home and removed everything down to the shell then spent

this summer moving every screw/ nut all the wiring the

front engine cradle complete with tranny /computers

struts/ wiring everything! over to the new body. then paid

a bodyshop to move the roof over to that body because

the moon roof is a specific stamping to the car, bought

a new/ used turbo rear bumper and support from a wrecking

yard and have that here. l have been looking now for a year

for a new front bumper either the factory one or a 93 SE

with the small 4 lights for the front.. have had no luck

all of them are still on the road or in the case of the turbo

not easily found and the one that came with it is torn.

As far as the bodies go l have clear titles for both but every

thing but the title and VIN tags is all that's left of the red

body.. the new body is black and also has a clear title.

l have busted my butt on this thing for so long l have lost

the drive. it ran awesome and was very snappy and a cool

car with all the bells and buzzers, the interior was in good

shape and is all there as well as the fasteners. what will

be required if interested is getting a front bumper, left fender

l have a right fender/ windshield..found one of those for

60.00 paint the body and just go about putting the

interior back in. if your still interested mail me your # and

l will give you call this weekend and we can talk..probly take

under a grand for it just to see someone finish it.. but let

me know what you think if still interested send me your #

and l will call this weekend and we can talk about it. And

if not. Thanks for your time :)

"'Probably' take under a grand for it"??? If it still needs a lot of assembly or work, I don't think he should even be asking over a grand to begin with. Has he looked around eBay at all for what these things go for? Decent condition ones sell around $2K, maybe $3K. The only way they get above that is if they have super low miles. The idea is it's all original and hasn't needed to be tampered with/molested. His mileage doesn't really count because he's completely stripped down the car, which defeats the whole purpose of having a low mileage car. If he thinks he should be reimbursed for his time, money, and effort spent on the car, then he doesn't know how the world of selling cars works. You never get back what you put into a car. I personally wouldn't offer him more than $700 for it, but that's just me. I got one in tact that needs very little cosmetics, and some fine tunning under the hood for $400, and a close to mint TSTE (even came pre-assembled!!! :D ) for $1,425 if that gives you some what of an idea what to offer.

Good luck!! :D

Is the new body a v vin number? If not it will never be a TGP. Thats the first thing anybody would look for, that and if numbers match.

If it hasen't run since 68 be carefull. The rings could be rusted to the walls.

If he has stripped the new body and put everything from the TGP in it you could be in for some real nightmares. If its not all swapped your in for more fun and games cause you have nothing to copy.

He should pay you to haual it away. My 2 cent's, Wait for one to come up on the board or ebay or treat it as a motor and tranny purchase.

V in vin number=TGP only. All others are T's. If the body he swapped the TGP parts into isn't a V it will never be a TGP. There fore it's just another GP with a turbo motor. Hope that clears that up. He doesn't say what the other body he bought is.

That motor would be sweet in any W-Body.
