Buick666
So yeah my tranny started to slip pretty bad today. So i need to know which transmitons i can use for my application if it's possible. I have a friend that has a 4T60E from a '93 Z34 bu he's not 100% sure that it's going to work in my car! He told me he could do a wiring job to make everything work as OEM even if it doesint have the same electronics. Thanks for the help guys! Imp558
Honestly, if you have someone to do some wiring the 4T65 would be a nice choice.
Nas Escobar
Well, what car is this going in? The 4T60E is geared differently for each application.
Buick666
It's a 1996 Buick Regal Custom with an L36
Imp558
I think this is my fourth time posting this link, if you want to identify 4T's this is the Uber mac daddy shit: http://www.gmtuners.com/transmission/

I'll go to the scrap yard and check out a couple of Regal's i've spotted there not to long ago. And hopefully those trannies are still good. Nas Escobar
It's a 1996 Buick Regal Custom with an L36 The 3.4LQ1 trans (found in the Z34) is different compared to the L36 trans. Truthfully, since the engine is Series 2 you could probably get away with using a 2nd gen trans with a PCM program and custom wiring. Would make for a car with better trans too. I know it would be the better choice for me... but i'm on a low budget so i really need to find a good tranny for my '96 though
l67ss
Or just use a 98 z34 pcm The 3.4LQ1 trans (found in the Z34) is different compared to the L36 trans. Buick666
Or just use a 98 z34 pcm I've spotted a '96 Regal L36 at my local U-Pull scrap yard... i'll go take a look at it tomorrow. Besides checking the oil condition is there a good way to check if the tranny's good without removing it??
l67ss
Drop the pan and look for metal shavings. Also snif the oil in pan to see if it smells overly burnt I've spotted a '96 Regal L36 at my local U-Pull scrap yard... i'll go take a look at it tomorrow.Besides checking the oil condition is there a good way to check if the tranny's good without removing it?? Michael Savage
One more note the 4T60E has 12 different gear ratios per year and vary by car. So try to go with the same car you are putting it in if possible or you should grab the PCM Chip to be safe. Put a Cutlass Supreme Tranny in my Monte Carlo same year setup and everything. The gear ratios were so different the car would shift a bit hard and crushing in 4th gear would cause a strange hum. Swaped the chips and now it shifts so smooth you have to really pay attention to even tell it's changed gears.
