i know it's done for the weight transfer, but damn is that engine sunk far back into the firewall....

I never was able to locate the owner of the cutlass at the car show. Unfortunately, I really wanted to talk to him. Besides it hade Olds V8, believe it was big block. it filled up the engine compartment well.

I would say that the motor is set back so far is to have room for the water pump, charging system, fan, & radiator. Having the #1 spark plug line up w/front spindle big added bonus.

 

Could be an old NHRA Super-mod class drag car. A class that runs V-8 motors & rwd in Caviliers, Cobalts, Buick Sommersets, & the like with G.M. bodies. How much leg room do you think there is?

This Cutlass looks cool, but I love those B-body wagons I see in the background of the 1st photo.

Nice. Looks like an '88 body. It has glass headlights and I think the chrome grilles were exclusive to 88s.
