93CutlassSupreme
any help you guys? i'm trying to adjust the trans linkage on a 93 Cutlass with a 3.1 and a 4T60E trans colum shift and i can't get the cable off the shift lever on top of the transaxle. there is something on the cable infront of the trans with a spring in it i don't know what that does and there is a plastic fixture holding the cable on the shift lever. Chilton's w-body repair book says the cable just snaps off the shift lever after pressing a button(?) on that spring device on the cable, but i can't find the button or take the cable off the shift lever. any help would be appreached. GP1138
Well, that selector arm is what I was using the wrench to adjust from Park (at the top) to Drive, with my good ol' wrench. Just take a flathead screwdriver, stick it between the bottom of the plastic and the arm itself, and twist the flathead screwdriver. After a bit of work, you should be able to wedge it off of the arm. When you've adjusted it, just take a pair of (big) pliers and use those to push the plastic piece back on. I fixed my console shift on my 4T60 without a Haynes manual. I've learned all I've learned from you guys and personal experimentation/experience. I'd have been lost without W-Body boards!
